SO WHY US?
It’s kind of weird talking about yourself. So, since our team is such close friends… we decided to tell you about each other (the good & the bad) instead of telling you about ourselves. Oh yeah… and we weren’t allowed to edit what the other two had to say about us. Awesome. (yes… that’s sarcasm.)
Meet the Team -
Bob Klem
As owner of Buckeye House Painting, Bob runs the show – and no one is more consistent or trustworthy. Starting with the company in 2004 while attending The Ohio State University, he quickly rose to a management position and then into a partial ownership role. Throughout his tenure, Bob has spent time doing every job here at Buckeye – from sweeping floors, to power washing homes in preparation for paint, to painting homes as a member of his crews.
Now the sole owner, Bob purchased the Buckeye House Painting on January 1st, 2022 from long time friend and mentor Dan McClurg, who built Buckeye House Painting based on his unwavering core values. Integrity, pride in quality of work, and professionalism are the guiding principles Bob took from Dan McClurg and Buckeye colleague Katie Fischer, whom he worked alongside for almost 15 years.
The most important thing for Bob in how his business operates is treating all people fairly and with respect, and providing the best service and product to each customer that is willing to give him the opportunity to do so. Each and every one of our jobs should leave the homeowner highly satisfied, and it’s Bob’s number one goal to make that happen.
Bob’s relentless work ethic began when he was a young teenager in Northeast Ohio. Outside of running the day-to-day here at Buckeye, he is a fun-loving family man and takes great pride in his family, friendships, and compassion for others. Bob loves spending time with his amazing wife Michele and children Ethan and Fiona, and when they get the chance to take vacations he and Michele love to scuba dive. Whenever possible, he loves to spend time with friends, play basketball, and do puzzles.

Dan Hartwell
Dan’s work ethic is strong, and he puts in the time and effort to prove it. He recognizes when things should be serious, but also knows how to have a good time – as he enjoys laughter and a light mood – and brings this to all his interactions with colleagues and customers alike. Dan is an outgoing, personable guy who not only cares about his friends and family but treats his customers like them too. Having the ability to remember key points of conversations and almost everyone’s name, he is sure to bring it up with each interaction, helping to build trust and confidence. Dan’s motto is simple;: “do what you say you’re going to do.” He lives by this motto everyday and does everything necessary to get the job done, including communicating well and strategizing every step.
Prior to coming aboard the Buckeye House Painting team, Dan worked for Sherwin-Williams for 15 years. His time there began in a retail sales associate position that grew into assistant manager, then he transitioned to become an operations manager for a commercial store – and finally made it full circle, returning to manage the original location in which he started his career for three years. Throughout his time at Sherwin-Williams, he built a relationship with Bob and the crew at Buckeye, which helped seal the deal to it becoming the next step in Dan’s professional journey.
Family is a large part of Dan’s life; both immediate and extended relatives hold a special place in his heart. He enjoys large family get-togethers and catching up with people he doesn’t get to see on a daily basis. Dan and his wife Mackenzie enjoy traveling, cooking, concert going, Netflix marathons, spending time with wonderful friends and their families, and taking Dexter, their beloved dog on long walks. Dan also enjoys playing a round of golf from time to time, as long as he gets the okay from Mackenzie, which is more often than not.
